An Open Letter to Professor Oluyemi O. Osinbajo SAN, GCON
Thank you for enriching the Nigerian political experience.
Thank you for standing up to be counted.
Thank you for following your convictions to the very end.
You are an inspiration to millions of Nigerians.
Your actions have shown how a man can pursue his ambitions without trampling on those of others.
It is your inalienable right to aspire to the position of the President of Nigeria, and you pursued your dreams admirably.
You have shown that hardworking and focused Nigerians can aspire to the highest level of political representation without deferring their dreams to the already decided hereditary entitlements of the offspring of the chanced societal nobles.
You are not a traitor. You are not a betrayer.
An Open Letter to Professor Oluyemi O Osinbajo SAN GCON
You are a star boy—a gem. You represented Nigerians well.
The political hoodlums and acquired party delegates might have put paid to your presidential ambition today.
Still, your desirable legacy lives on, and in future, some will take your path of determination and focused public service.
You lived out the poem of Marianne Williamson, and I quote:
“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate.
Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure.
It is our light, not our darkness
That most frightens us.
We ask ourselves
Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous?
Actually, who are you not to be?
You are a child of God.
Your playing small
Does not serve the world.
There’s nothing enlightened about shrinking.
So that other people won’t feel insecure around you.
We are all meant to shine,
As children do.
We were born to make manifest.
The glory of God that is within us.
It’s not just in some of us;
It’s in everyone.
And as we let our light shine,
We unconsciously permit other people to do the same.
As we’re liberated from our fear,
Our presence automatically liberates others.”
– Marianne Williamson.

Your detractors may choose to perpetually live out their one-time existence under the shadow of another person – their choice.
They may even wilfully defer their aspirations to another person’s choice.
However, what they cannot do is vilify you for pursuing your political ambition.
We all have the right to aspire to greatness.
No rule book says that everybody should live under the shadow of one person.
No rule book says that everyone should ditch their ambitions just for one person’s dream.
The Southwest made the mistake of fixating on one political figure in the past. Why repeat such?
The Southwest is blessed with many people who can lead from the front politically.
You did no wrong by contesting against Asiwaju Bola Tinubu.
Maybe those vilifying you should ADVISE THEIR CHILDREN NOT TO COMPETE THE SAME POSITIONS WITH OFFSPRINGS OF THE LIKES OF ASIWAJU TINUBU in the near and distant future.
Once again, thank you for your participation.
Nigeria will always need you. Nigerians will always require your service and experience.
Enjoy the rest of your statutorily-mandated political service to the people of Nigeria.
May God bless you.
May God’s wisdom abide by you always, and may your heart find fulfilment both in the now and future.
Na man you be. Please walk about tall.
Extend my greetings to Aunty Dolly and the family.
Regards,
Vincent Elegbeleye
