Forces Of Darkness delayed My Birth Says Obasanjo. The former President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, made the astonishing remark during a drama presentation at his Presidential Library in Abeokuta, Ogun State.
The two-time Civilian President and one-time Military Head of State of Nigeria asserted that witches and wizards wanted him dead in his mother’s womb.
The Elder Statesman noted that “witches and wizards delayed my birth. I was in my mother’s womb for 12 months. People expected me to die in my mother’s womb, but God intervened.”
In Yoruba culture, it is widespread that any unborn child wombed for more than nine months is a unique child and an anointed one destined for greatness.
The former President’s story would resonate with many Yorubas, who would relate to how witches and wizards opposed his birth.
On Thursday, two-termed former President Olusegun Obasanjo disclosed that Witches and Wizards delayed his birth in a statement that some people found ‘shocking’ while others said, ” That is why he is the strong man that he is.”
Recounting Obasanjo’s journey to the top and his post-presidency life, one will surely see that this cannot be ordinary. Suffice it to say that God divinely orchestrated Chief Obasanjo’s birth.
After his second tenure in 2007, Chief Obasanjo has not ceased to be in the spotlight.
From time to time, he has proved that he is a force to reckon with in Nigeria’s political sphere, which has led many to label him ‘controversial.’
However, away from politics, he has come to disclose how terrible it was for his late mother to bring him into the world and how wicked forces tried to kill him in his mother’s womb.
The Elder statesman said he had to stay in the womb for 12 months before he could be born due to powers and forces from the realm of darkness orchestrated against his concession.
Eulogising himself, he called himself “Aremu, Omo Asabi,” a name attributed to the Yoruba tribe, meaning “Heir, Asabi’s child.
It is to be recalled that Chief Obasanjo was the first Nigerian to rule the country both as a Military Head of state and as a Democratically Elected President under the umbrella of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) from 1999 to 2007.
Obasanjo, whose mother went through a challenging period before his concession, narrated how many people feared he would never be born before GOD Intervened.
This revelation came through Mr. Kehinde Akinyemi, his Media Assistant, in Abeokuta, Ogun State, on Thursday during a drama presentation titled “Aremu, Omo Asabi,” staged to celebrate the 66th anniversary of his Late Mother, Bernice Obasanjo.
The drama presentation took place on Wednesday, the day before, at the main auditorium of Olusegun Obasanjo Library in Abeokuta, the capital of Ogun state.
In an agonizing mood, as revealed by his Media Assistant, Mr. Kehinde Akinyemi, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo admonished that it was unfulfilling that his mother did not live so long to enjoy what she had laboured for and could not experience how fabulously GOD had been with him and taken him this far in life.
It should be remembered that Obasanjo is one of Nigeria’s most successful politicians and businessmen today.
Grieving and agonising, he revealed that his mother birthed nine children, but only two could survive, himself and his sister.
He was the only one educated due to rampant belief at that time that ‘no matter how educated a lady is, she will still end up in a kitchen.’
“My mother told me that I spent 12 months in her womb, and since I was born, she had not left me until her death. She had nine children, but two of us survived, myself and my sister,” he said.
“I was the only one who went to school because my father believed that no matter how educated a female child was, she would end up in the kitchen.”
The former president was always generous and philanthropic and vowed to assist the dramatists and ensure their performances and outings were recognised and recorded in the Guinness Book of Records.
The Ogun state Governor, Dapo Abiodun, represented by his deputy, Noimot Salako-Oyedele, said that motherhood will always be the foundation of every society. She disclosed this at the event.
In her speech, Mrs. Noimot paid homage to the former President by describing him as a formidable figure and a great man who came, saw, and conquered. The Deputy Governor described Chief Obasanjo’s deceased mother as a great woman who had to go through difficult times to ensure that her children were okay and safe.
She noted that the late mother had to endure through the lives of her children, especially Obasanjo, who has become a force to reckon with in Nigerian politics and a formidable figure in the country’s history.
She continued by saying that the drama presentation “Aremu, Omo Asabi” was not just a drama commemorating Obasanjo’s Mother’s role in his life but also a timely reminder of the hard-earned sacrifices mothers make and the good fortune they bestow on their children.
“This tribute is also a call to action for all of us to honour and support mothers in every way possible. It reminds us of our collective responsibility to create an enabling environment where every mother’s hope for their children can flourish,” she said.

She concluded, “This is why the present administration continues to pursue policies that ensure access to quality education, healthcare, and opportunities for all so that the dreams mothers have for their children may be attained.”
