Israel kills Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar as his death is confirmed

For the past months, Israel has been at war against terror, eliminating various terror leaders in the process.

After various airstrikes and bombings, investigations had been ongoing to ascertain if Sinwar was involved in those killed in the Israeli Defence Forces’ operations.

But reports surfacing on the web and through Israeli’s Foreign Affairs, it is now confirmed that Yahya Sinwar has been killed in Gaza, with the body of the deceased’s found within the rubbles of a collapsed building.

Earlier, Sinwar with other three terrorists, was eliminated by IDF in a ground operation but there was no official confirmation by Israel as investigations were still ongoing to ascertain that.

According to Israeli Defence Minister Yoav Gallant on his verified X account: ‘’We will reach every terrorist – and eliminate him, our enemies cannot hide.’’

Following the ground operation, as reported by Israeli news outlet, N12 reports, Senior Israeli officials claimed that Sinwar might have been assassinated during operation of the IDF but no confirmation was made due to no available evidence.

YAHYA SINWAR IS CONFIRMED “DEAD” BY ISRAEL

The death of Hamas Leader, Yahya Sinwar has been confirmed by Israel with pictorial evidence depicting his body covered in rubbles.

Sinwar, who had been at the forefront of the Hamas operation in Gaza since 2017, was the brain behind 7th October, 2023, attack on Israel.

This claim was made by Israeli Foreign Minister Israel Katz after DNA, tooth and other examinations were carried out on the body found within the rubbles in Gaza.

In his statement, he claimed that Israeli officials can now confirm that Sinwar has been “killed today by IDF [Israeli Defence Forces] soldiers, and his death was a “great military and moral achievement for Israel.

“The elimination of Sinwar creates an opportunity for the immediate release of the hostages and a potential change that could lead to a new reality in Gaza – without Hamas and without Iranian control,” he added.

This press statement came after Sinwar’s body circulated on the internet and following various tests and examination conducted on the body after found within rubbles.

He said the Hamas leader’s death will come as a success and relief that Israel has finally eliminated its primary target since the commencement of its strikes and invasion in Gaza in a reactive measure to Hamas incursion last year.

In a statement released by Israeli Military yesterday, the officials revealed that they were checking if truly Sinwar was killed in the ground strike.

It added: “During IDF operations in Gaza, three terrorists were eliminated…

“In the building where the terrorists were eliminated, there were no signs of hostages in the area. The forces that are operating in the area are continuing to operate with required caution.”

Hamas is yet to comment on the reports of assassination of its leader, but a close source disclosed that there are indications that Sinwar had been killed.

On Wednesday, US officials said the there were possibilities that Israel’s mission in Rafah had successfully been accomplished.

They claimed that United States had not been involved in the operation, and provide any intelligence aid, but claiming that the US just found out after the operation had been successfully carried out.

If the reported killing of Sinwar is confirmed “true,” it is a “lucky break” for Israeli Defence Forces, claims NBC

NARRATIVES:

Sinwar became chief commander of Hamas after the death of political leader of the group, Ismail Haniyey, who was killed in July, in Iran.

Sinwar was reported to have been hiding in the network of tunnels under Gaza since Hamas’ attack on Israel last year.

United States President Joe Biden was informed, through close communication US maintains with Israel, of Israel’s finding and examination on the body discovered under the rubbles to ascertain if Sinwar was killed.

SINWAR’S DEATH WOULD SERVE AS A CATALYST FOR REMAINING HAMAZ RESISTANCE

Sinwar’s death will serve as a crucial moment during this war between Hamas and Israel which occasion significant consequences.

Ground strike and battle are still ongoing between Hamas and Israeli Military every day which is presently targetted at northern Gaza.

It could be presumed that if truly Sinwar is killed, along with other senior commanders in recent months, it might lead to collapse of the group in Gaza.

Regarding the hostages taken by Hamas on 7 October, 2023, Sinwar placed himself in most fore position for Hamas for negotiation. Any relations or engagement involving hostage negotiation, had to go through and this had made him main target.

He was highly regarded and protected due the fact that he spent most of his time underground and I believe that he must have been aware of how high was the security around him regarding any communications he had outside the world.

Sinwar received backlash over the rationale behind hostage taking in Gaza without any hostage deal in place. His assassination, though hard to predict or say, might accelerate hostage negotiation. This is hard to predict because, right now, no one knows who will be the new negotiator for Hamas and who they might intend to negotiate with.

His killing came after weeks of IDF’s continuous air and land offensive operations in the Jabaliva refugee camp in northern Gaza.

According to Gaza Ministry of Health, Israel-Hamas war is now more than one year old during which Israel has killed more than 42,000 Palestinians in a reactive operation against Hamas’ incursion on 7th October, 2023, when Hamas killed 1,200 Israelis and took about 250 hostages during their incursion into Israel.
