Anthony Joshua retained his WBA, WBO and IBF belts by knocking out Kubrat Pulev in the ninth round at the SSE Arena, Wembley, England.
Anthony Joshua secured his 22nd knockout by way of an uppercut which floors Kubrat Pulev, and he couldn’t make the count.
Throughout the fight, Anthony Joshua was busy teeing away at Kubrat Pulev with repeated jabs to the head and body, with little and sparing responses from Pulev.
Eventually, Pulev was down and counted out in the ninth round.
Kubrat Pulev was first floored in the third round and was able to beat the count at the eighth time of asking. Kubrat Pulev was down again at the start of the ninth round where he also beat the count at the eighth time.
However, he couldn’t withstand the flurry of combinations coming from Anthony Joshua to him, and he finally kissed the canvass without being able to beat the count.
Anthony Joshua worked the body and the head with jabs, but when the opportunity presented itself, Joshua destroyed Pulev – an amazingly tough man – with the uppercut.

The South African referee had no choice than to count out the fight in the ninth round.
The two pugilists exchanged respectful exchanges after the boxing match. However, it appears that the exchanges were not all friendly as Kubrat Pulev’s trainer had to usher Anthony Joshua away, following few exchanges.
Though Kubrat Pulev might have taken an additional loss to his boxing record today, some credits still have to be given to him as he showed heart and bravery.
He got up from the canvas when it could have been convenient for him to stay down and counted out.
Kubrat showed up to fight and was determined to fight but the WBA, WBO and IBF reigning champion, Anthony Joshua was just too good for him.
The three referees are from England, Bulgaria and Italy, respectively while the referee is from South Africa.
There is clearly one fight that the whole boxing community wants to see, and that’s Anthony Joshua squaring up to Tyson Fury.
The All British Mega Fight is expected to take place in 2021.
