Today, 28th October 2024, Manchester United have announced its decision to part ways with their Dutch Manager after two-and-half years in reign.

The decision came following weekend’s 2-1 defeat by Westham United at the London Stadium in the Premier League which further dented the manager’s hope of keeping his job at the Old Trafford.

Sources close to the club have revealed that club legend Ruud Van Nistelrooy will now take the reign pending the time a new manager will be recruited to steer the team forward.

During the summer, there were widespread reports that Manchester United were already in contact with several managers to replace the Dutchman if axed following disappointing two years in charge.

The FA Cup victory over the arch-rivals, Manchester City, saved his job and his contract was extended until 2026. Currently, United lie fourteenth in the English Premier League Standings.

For the time being, Nistelrooy will be in charge of the team as interim coach while the search for a permanent manager will be accelerated.

It is learned that the unanimous decision to dismiss Ten Hag−who still has a contract to run till 2026−is described as “difficult and finely balanced by Manchester United’s Board.

Consequentially, the decision to axe Ten Hag is centred on the team’s on-pitch poor performance and abysmal results WEEK IN, AND WEEK OUT.

Regarding the comments usually made by Ten Hag after a poor outing, the club’s hierarchy did not see the club being steered in the right direction under the Dutchman and that led to his dismissal.

Their position on the EPL Table cannot justify the amount being invested in the team.

United have only managed to win four out of their fourteen games this season with a load of goals conceded.

Manchester United’s short statement after the sack of Erik Ten Hag reads:

“We are grateful to Erik for everything he has done during his time with us and wish him well for the future.”

We can recall that during the summer, Ten Hag was backed by new co-owners INEOS in the summer. The former Ajax boss’ contract was extended by two years which was set to run until June 2026.

The decision, by the INEOS, to back the fifty-four-year-old came after the club initially approached various managers to replace the Dutchman and their FA Cup win in May 2024.

INEOS decided to back their manager by spending £200m on new players but since the start of the season.

However, the investment is yet to pay off as the team continues to struggle in front of goals and defending against goals.

ASSESSMENT OF THE TEAM BY GARY NEVILLE, ONE OF THE LEGENDS OF THE CLUB AND SPORTS PUNDIT

Gary Neville, indicated a few days ago that Erik Ten Hag was ‘asking for troubles’ with recent results and suggested that Manchester United can easily be defeated by any team.

While speaking on their Podcast on Sunday night, Gary Neville released a frank assessment of Man. United from the start of the season to the period.

“I always think that anybody that’s half-decent, that can play, will beat this United team,” he said.

“I’m worried because the results, the lack of goals, the lack of performances, it’s stacking up week after week after week, and there will be some sort of reasons given [on Sunday] – I’m not going to say excuses – but reasons given around missing chances.

“But they keep missing chances. These are the players that have been recruited over the last couple of seasons mainly.

“It’s a sobering time because the feeling was after winning the FA Cup final and investing well, having a smoother transfer window, that now it’s looking like here we are again at that moment where it’s going badly wrong.

“Just purely the position in the league, they are 14th. Manchester United… I mean, it’s Manchester United. He can’t be 14th in the league. He can be after one or two games, maybe, but not after nine, not after 10.”

SHORTLISTED AND CONTACTED MANAGERS TO REPLACE TEN HAG

In recent weeks, reports have indicated that United’s hierarchy has been working behind the door, contacting managers to replace their then-underperforming manager Ten Hag.

Just a few days ago, reports emerged that former http://fcbarcelona.comBarcelona player and Coach Xavi Hernandez was contacted by United to replace the underperforming Dutchman.

However, an Old Trafford insider has disclosed that Manchester United’s Board have identified five managers they can look to if eventually the Dutch Coach is sacked but in the meanwhile, Ruud Van Nistelrooy take charge as the interim coach.

After the decision was made over the summer to keep faith in Ten Hag, it was learned that the club’s hierarchy was looking to give the Dutchman full season to turn things around.

However, following the defeat by Westham United in a game everyone at Old Trafford and Carrington felt the Manchester United Team should have their faith crushed and belief weakened.
