Prince Andrew steps down from Royal duties, with effective immediacy. The Duke of York, Prince Andrew has announced his immediate suspension of all royal public duties, highlighting the severity of the damage to his reputation by the Epstein Paedophilia scandal.
In addition to stepping down, he has agreed to cooperate with the ongoing US probe into the child sex scandal involving paedophile Billionaire Epstein, who committed suicide while in the custody in August.
Prince Andrew revealed that he would step away from his public role indefinitely. Sources from the Palace revealed that the Her Majesty, the Queen approves the decision.
In a letter issued by the Prince, he said: ‘It has become clear to me over the last few days that the circumstances relating to my former association with Jeffery Epstein have become a major disruption to my family’s work and the valuable work going on in the many organizations and charities that I am proud to support. Therefore, I have asked Her Majesty if I may step back from public duties for the foreseeable future, and she has given her permission.’

The statement sought to ensure limitation to the damage that the scandal has done to the Prince’s charitable causes. The announcement came as organizations such as BT, Standard Chartered Bank and KPMG, supporting the Prince’s charitable causes began to distance themselves form him to protect their own reputations.
It is a rare decision for a senior member of the Royal family to step away from public duties, and this underscores the importance that the Buckingham Palace attaches to the scandal.
The Duke of York had a BBC interview which was widely criticized by many people because of the Prince’s perceived tones and mannerisms while failing to answer some questions put to him. The Duke of York said ‘unequivocally regret my ill-judged association with Jeffrey Epstein”.
The Prince said ‘his suicide has left many unanswered questions, particularly for his victims, and I deeply sympathize with everyone who has been affected and want some form of closure.’ He concluded that ‘I can only hope that,in time, they will be able to rebuild their lives.Of course,I am willing to help any appropriate law enforcement agency.’
