U.S. Presidential Debate: Set For Tomorrow, Tuesday
As Major Challenges Await Harris And Trump
As the U.S. Presidential Election draws close, the Republicans and the Democrats face two final crucial months heading into the election which is scheduled to hold in November.
The Democratic Party’s nominee and vice President Kamala Harris goes head to head tomorrow in one of the most heated Presidential debates in the history of the United States.
It is to be noted that the debate was prescheduled to hold between the incumbent President of the United States, Joe Biden and former president Donald Trump, but the president stepped down due to pressure from various quarters citing health issues and being too old.
The duo are set to go shoulder to shoulder tomorrow in a bid to convince millions of voters and spectators that they have all it takes to take the United States to the next higher level.
Since the step-down of the President, Joe Biden, Harris, with her charisma and aura, has brought reinstated Democrats’ momentum going into the race by stating how he would help the country, especially the struggling working and middle-class Americans

While Trump, on the other hand, has fixed his record on the economy and immigration while he always avoids attacking the vice President.
The next edition of the presidential debate is set to hold in Philadelphia after the last debate in June ended President Joe Biden’s reelection bid, eventually endorsing his vice, Kamara Harris, to carry on the reelection process in his place.
Reacting to the situation, Sean Spicer, Trump’s first White House press secretary, said, “I think there’s an outsized expectation of ‘gosh, the last guy dropped out, let’s watch it.’ So, I think that there’s a lot more at stake than normally I would ever say is at stake.”
“I’m not a huge believer that debates move the needle that much, but I do think that because of the nontraditional nature of what’s happening right now, there’s going to be an outsized degree of attention,” he added.
In support of Harris Presidential bid, some Democrats disclosed that the vice president only has two main goals if she must be crowned the next president of the country: (1) assure the voters that she is ready to lead the country, and (2) describe in more detailed statements what policies she’d pursue as president.
Worries have been expressed by some Democrats over Harris’ rise to become the nominee of the party, citing irregularities and unjust manipulation of the congress votes. Also considering, being a female, they might have issues relating with her.

However, a strong debate outing would set her feet on the path of victory and solidify the backing she has been enjoying since her endorsement by the president.
“I think she has to answer the overarching question, which is, can she lead the country, and what type of president will President Harris be? People just want to be comfortable in that decision,” said Bakari Sellers, a beloved Harris’ fan.
“I don’t want her to be timid at all. Just be yourself, be comfortable, answer questions and turn around and hammer him.”
Meanwhile, Trump has been portraying the vice president “Dangerous” by describing her as a “California Liberal” who has little interest in fighting crime, reckoning her period as state attorney general and senator.
That’s a clue Harris could use in the debate state by reminding the audience her efforts, during her time as the attorney general, fighting crimes perpetrated by transnational syndicates across the southern border.
A source close to the Democrats stated that the vice president should “clearly [stake] out where she stands on issues like the border and crime and [talk] about her record on those issues as a prosecutor and attorney general to demonstrate that the portrayals are misrepresenting her actual views on those issues.”
Harris, who has introduced a policy which made it easier for the citizens to buy houses in any state of their choice, a plan which was totally embraced, and also promised to increase the capital gains tax less than what Biden has proposed.
“It’s an important opportunity for her to continue to lay out her economic vision, to demonstrate both through talking about her experience and her vision, that she will be a strong leader, as she has said, for all Americans,” one source close to Harris’ team said.
However, Trump remains a big challenge to Harris. Trump is known to be one of the most unpredictable non-traditional personalities in contemporary politics and it is likely that Trump might not give her the space and time needed for expression.
Trump, who has already thrown various jibes at Harris, at time questioning her intelligence and nomination, stating inappropriate suggestions about sexuality which Harris is yet to react to. But tomorrow, much will be expected of her to fight back the allegation. U.S Presidential Debate: Set For Tomorrow, Tuesday
Seller continued, “I think there is a mechanism whereby you stand up to bullies and you call it out for what it is and simply say that, ‘while the former president is using racism as political currency, I represent a new future, one where we don’t divide people and use such degrading terms to anyone,’”
“I would look him dead in the eye and say, ‘former President Trump, we are better than you right now.'” U.S Presidential Debate: Set For Tomorrow, Tuesday
Others weren’t so sure.
Another source close to the Democrats said, “I would ignore what are likely to be rude, disrespectful behaviours from Trump, and stay focused on the substance, because by doing so, it will further highlight for people just how disgusting his behavior can be,” said the source close to Democrats.
GOP operatives implored Trump to focus on policy contrast, declaring that he has more human-friendly policies which how ameliorate issues of inflation and immigration as he forces Harris to reverse while he maintains his own desire to address other issues like abortions
“He’s not going to have many other windows where Kamala Harris is going to be asked tough questions and tough follow up questions, and so he needs to keep his responses and very focused on her issue positions that have come out of her mouth and make her reconcile what she’s saying now with what she said in 2020,” said GOP strategist Brad Todd.
In his reference to the state’s economic dependence on the practice, Todd said, “When she says, ‘I’m not for banning fracking,’ then he needs to say, so, you wrong before? What caused you to believe that your previous position was wrong? Or are you just worried about Pennsylvania?'”
Trump berated the vice president for serving four years under a president who faced wanton rejection rating following his decision to step down from the race.
In a poll last month, it showed that only 11% gave Harris pass mark on economic policy, while just 15% highlighted her similar immigration policy with the present one.
On the other hand, the Republicans have charged their nominee to hammer out the connection.
“For him to be viewed as having a successful debate, he has to continue that assault,” said one former campaign aide in touch with Trump’s current team.
“She’s the vice president United States seeking the second term of Joe Biden. We can make that case.”
Meanwhile, Trump has always shown his love for gearing into unexpected verbal attacks on the opponents or the moderators. This is a tactic which has given him edge but could boomerang if not curtailed and properly utilised on Tuesday.
“If he takes the bait and makes some kind of one-off comment about her and calls her names, I think that’s going to be the story the next day,” Spicer said.
Todd concluded, “He’s a field player and he’s an improviser, and that’s what’s made him effective as a communicator, “But this is a time for discipline.”
