UnitedHealthcare CEO Thompson shot dead as the shooter appears flirting in the footage

Wednesday brought devastating news for the Thompson family after he was fatally shot outside Hilton hotel in New York city.

The New York Police Department (NYPD) is hot on the suspected shooter’s trail, sources disclosed.

On Thursday, footages of the suspect emitted from surveillance at the HI New York City Hostel at West 103rd street on the Upper West Side camera were released by authorities.

Through surveillance camera, the police was able to capture the suspect’s face while flirting with a woman who also checked-in to the hotel, the source said.

While standing with the woman at the reception desk, he was asked, by the woman, to reveal his face with a smile. The suspected killer acceded and drew down his mask enough for the CCTV camera to capture his face.

Reports have indicated that the New York City Police Department (NYPD) is engaging the public in order to find the suspect for questioning and interrogation over the murder of CEO Thompson of 4th December, 2024.

Security operatives expanded their search to other hotels and showed residents a photo of the suspected killer.

The police has been able to filter from reports mustered that the alleged killer checked into an Upper West Side hostel, using a Jersey License which did not belong to him.

Law enforcement revealed on Thursday that the suspect was tracked to an a base in Atlanta, Georgia.

Security personnel are reviewing footage to determine if they can capture the suspect on video. He arrived via the Port Authority Bus Terminal.

Howbeit, the suspect checked into the Upper West Side hostel on the 30th November, which is believed that he arrived earlier as that in preparation for the shooting.

The assailant shot Thompson at close range on Wednesday, in front of a Hilton Hotel where Thompson went for a conference.

Bullet casings found at the scene had the words “deny,” “defend” and “depose” scripted on them, another police sources said.

“The motive remains unknown,” police said.

The police source also revealed that the gun used in the shooting is still with the suspect and believed that the suspected shooter used B&T Station Six, known as Great Britain as a Welrod pistol.

The gun used has no silencer but with a long barrel which enables it to fire a semi-silent shot. The gun requires manual cycling via the magazine.

As of the period, the gun is not within a reach of the detectives. The detectives have been visiting gun shops, assessing recent purchases, a source disclosed.

On Thursday, NYPD officers visited a gun shop in Connecticut which sells weapon of similarity to the one used by the suspect, a source disclosed.

Thompson’s publicized presence in New York for the UnitedHealthcare investors’ conference made him an easy target for the suspect.

A footage, obtained by UnitedHealthcare from AP Surveillance, after reviewed by the authority, depicts someone who looks like the suspected killer departing a 57th Street subway station close to the crime scene a few moments before the shooting, source narrated.

The suspected assailant captured waiting close to the Hilton Hotel for Thompson to come out.

Eventually at 6:40 a.m. on Thursday, the marked suspect carried out the shooting immediately Thompson left the hotel and tried to walk across the street.

Reacting to the shooting incident, NYPD Chief of Detectives Joseph Kenny said: “The shooter then walks toward the victim and continues to shoot.”

“It appears that the gun malfunctions, as he clears the jam and begins to fire again.”

Police recovered a mobile device, believed to belong to the suspected shooter, after he ran into an alley, as shown in recovered footage.

He then absconded the shooting scene on a bike and rode into Central Park, the police source said.

A source revealed that surveillance video captured the suspect’s uncovered at 5.a.m Wednesday outside the Frederick Douglass House.

The footage appears to show the suspect carrying what looks like an electric bike battery in his hands.

Investigations are also ongoing to ascertain if the suspect prepositioned the bike for himself to escape through the subway after the shooting.

The police recovered a water bottle and a candy wrapper from the shooting scene, which they believe linked to the suspect.

Law enforcement agents disclosed that they will conduct forensic examinations and DNA tests on the items

Paulette, Thompson’s wife, expressed that the senseless killing has left her shattered.

In her statement, “Brian was an incredibly loving, generous, talented man. He truly lived life to the fullest and touched so many lives,” she said.

“Most importantly, Brian was an incredibly loving father to our two sons and will be greatly missed.”

Also, authorities have posted a reward poster outside the Hilton hotel in Midtown Manhattan. This is to seek information about the fatal shooting on Wednesday.

According interviews with the neighbors, the couple each owns separate homes in the same neighborhood of Minneapolis.

They have not been living together for many years.

The neighborhood greatly admired and esteemed Brain Thompson.

A neighbor by the name Patty Grabski calls the slain CEO “a really impressive person.

She also described the wife, Paulette Thompson as ‘always friendly and very kind.”

Patty’s husband considered Thompson the most smartest person in the room, based on their three years of working together.

NYPD had implored the public to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS should they have any information regarding the fleeing suspect.
