As The Pair Battle It Out Amidst Tough Outing

The time heats up as US Presidential election draws nearer by the as running mates of both candidates engaged in a fiery debate on Tuesday night.

On Tuesday night, the American people were thrown into dilemma over their choice of candidate during the election following tough debate performance by vice presidential candidates of the Democratic Party and the Republican Party respectively.

Both running mates faced backlash from the public due to their stumbled outing but however, the Vice President Kamara Harris and former President Donald Trump have both backed their respective running mates−Governor Tim Walz and Senator JD Vance. On Wednesday morning, in spite various gaffes by both running mates during the debate, Harris backed her running mate by saying the Walz “offered a powerful showcase of the kind of leadership we deserve,” while Trump on the other hand, said in an interview on Wednesday that there was “brilliance” in Vance’s debate performance.

With just less than forty days before the election, the debate and the candidates’ performances boost their opportunity to win the hearts of the hesitant voters who are yet to pick their choice of candidate.

Purpose for debating is for the candidates to share their visions and manifestoes for America which would in return, decide the outcome of their election bid.

Michael Tyler, Harris campaign communications director, said on Wednesday morning that they are “excited” by Walz’ debate performance.

“I think Vice President Harris’ reaction is the same as voters across the country, independent voters in particular, and those undecideds who saw Gov. Walz lay out a very clear vision for where he and the vice president want to take this country,” Tyler said.

In his statement. Tyler described Vance as a “slick debater,” but said “Governor Walz clearly articulated the case in a plain-spoken way.”

Meanwhile, Walz struggled to clear the air over why he misspoke in the past about being in Hong Kong and witnessing the Tiananmen Square protests during the spring of 1989, which was apparent that the weeklong protests ended in June, a few months before he travelled there. Walz refuted following backlash over military record, and backtracks on his visit to China, “my community knows who I am and that he’s not been perfect and can be a knucklehead at times.

“No, I think he was pretty clear,” Tyler said when asked if Walz needed to go further than his comments during the debate in clearing up his misstatement on the protests.

“He said he misspoke. He was there in August. I think he’d earlier said it was June. This is a matter of months, 35 years ago. He was there during the summer of protests,” Tyler added.

In a sequence play on social media, Trump appeared to have described Walz as “nervous, incompetent and even weird.”

Trump stole the moment to attack Walz through his struggling to address gaffe by asking him to answer his alleged insincerity in his visit to Hong Kong during the Tiananmen Square demonstration, picturing him a “liar.”

Walz appeared shaky during the debate, which has led some to suggest if he had engaged in more interviews since he was picked as the vice-presidential nominee, he would have been better prepared and better faired during the debate.

When quizzed, Tyler said: “no, it would not have helped,” then citing the offensive tactic to be deployed during the final weeks of campaign to the election. US Election: Harris And Trump Back Their Running Mates

“I think what you will see him and the vice president continue to do over the course of the final month of this stretch is use every tool that we have at our disposal to continue to reach the voters,” Tyler stated.

“Yes, that will be inclusive of more media appearances, more interviews,” he added.

Yesterday, on Wednesday’s campaign rally, Walz gave his debate performance a scorecard, stating at a York, Pennsylvania, “not bad for a football coach. I did not underestimate Sen. Vance as a slick talker,” Walz noted.

“But I also called out there — you can’t rewrite history. You can’t rewrite history,” he added.

Initially, before the debate, Trump, in a video posted online, vowed to call out his running mate if he made any mistake, ended up praising Vance’s debate outing throughout the night.

“JD crushed it!” Trump posted on his social media after the debate.

Via a phone conversation with Fox News Digital, Trump continued singing the praise, noting that Vance’s debate performance reaffirmed his choice of vice-presidential candidate.

“JD was fantastic last night−it just reconfirmed my choice, there was a brilliance to what he did,” Trump said.

Susie Wiles and Chris LaCivita, Trump campaign senior advisers, immediately apportioned victory to their vice-presidential candidate after the debate, citing that Vance in a commanding style, won the debate.

“It was the best debate performance from any vice-presidential candidate in history.”

The Republican Presidential nominee Donald Trump’s oldest son, Donald Trump Jr., a strong supporter of Vance’s vice presidential candidature, told reporters while walking into the debate room on Tuesday night that, “there is nothing to spin.”

When asked about Vance’s refusal to admit that Trump lost the 2020 presidential election, Donald Trump Jr. said, “the American public are not worried about that.”

On Tuesday night in the debate room, Jason Miller, senior Trump campaign adviser, said, “JD’s a very likable guy. I think his life experience connects with voters.”

“I think Sen. Vance helped us win today because he had a tremendous performance,” Miller said.
