Floyd Mayweather’s Uncle, Roger Mayweather dies at 58. The former world boxing light-weight and super-featherweight champion has died at the tender age of 58.
This sad news was confirmed to TMZ by Floyd Mayweather Jr.’s Camp. He is adjudged to be one of the most famous boxing trainers ever.
He is the brother of Floyd Mayweather Sr. and Jeff Mayweather.
An Outstanding Boxing Trainer
It is important to note that Roger Mayweather was one of the core members of the distinctive Floyd Mayweather training team.
Suffice it to say that he was one of the key people who groomed Floyd Mayweather into the boxing Icon he is today.
A Superb Boxing Champion in His Own Right
WBC Roger Mayweather was an excellent boxer of his standing. He was involved in exciting and high-profile boxing matches, such as his fight with Ray Mancini and Julio Cesar.
In his lifetime, he was a 2-weight world champion, and successfully held the WBC light-welterweight title and the WBA and lineal super-featherweight title between 1987 to 1989.
Roger Mayweather held the IBO light welterweight title in 1994 and the IBO welterweight crown from 1994 to 1995.
Roger Mayweather popularly known as the ‘Black Mamba’ had a boxing career record of 59-13.
Declining Health
Recently, Roger Mayweather has not been in the best of health. It has been an open secret that his health has been in decline for years.
In 2015, Floyd Mayweather made a passing reference to his Uncle’s ill health by asserting that his failing health was induced by his exposure to the sport of boxing.
Floyd Mayweather is particularly close to his Uncle and was deeply saddened about his passing away, making it the second death that Floyd Mayweather is experiencing within one week.
He lost the mother of his children earlier this week.
